Look Slim in Plus Size Swimwear

Christian Miller asked:

Everyone seems to be waiting on summer’s friendly rays, but for some people bathing suit season may mean a lot of agonizing time in the dressing room. Your time in the dressing room doesn’t have to be painful, shopping for bathing suits in any size should be fun and easy when you take the time to do it right.

The first step is that you have to analyze your assets. Pick out your most appealing features and choose colors, shapes, and patterns to compliment them using some of the slimming tips mentioned below. Taking the time to understand exactly how we can use these shapes, colors and patterns in the swimwear to work to our advantage will help you create a slimmer look this summer.

Take a good look at your body shape in the mirror. If you’re uncomfortable with the way you look, don’t simply opt for the one-piece suit complete with sewn in skirt! Learn to dress your body type to maximize what you have.

For instance pear-shaped bodies, those that are curvy on top and bottom and more narrow in the middle, are the easiest body types to dress. The pear-shaped body can most often get away with any two-piece bikini, but definitely needs more support up top. Be sure to choose a top with bra-like qualities to ensure you are adequately supported by the straps.

A triangle shaped body, one with a small chest and larger hips, will want to attract more attention to her top half to better balance her proportions. A push-up top will help set off the proportions as well as making great cleavage! An inverted triangle shaped body will want to attract more attention to her lower half. To do this, add a skirt or sarong to help better weigh down the bottom half.

The most difficult shape is that of the oval, small on top and bottom but larger in the middle. Have no fear, swimwear designers have long been making control-top one-piece bathing suits to help nip and tuck everything that needs to be kept in place.

Dark colors are excellent at concealing areas that you would like to hide, whereas light colors and patterns do the exact opposite. If your bust is ample, but your stomach equally so, perhaps a light top and dark midsection would be the perfect match for your body shape.

Still feeling uncomfortable? A sheer robe as a cover-up can help quell fears and cover skin. Amazing heels will help lengthen legs and make them appear more shapely but make beach walking awkward. But of course, confidence, even if faked, is the most alluring asset of all.

A good tan may be the most important part of finishing off your look. This tan does not have to be real, it can be man-made by one of many products available on the market. Never jeopardize your health for swimsuit season and be sure to wear sunscreen when under the sun’s harmful rays for an extended period of time. Above all else, have fun with your look and enjoy the summer season!

6 Tips for Buy Maternity Swimwear

Amy Jarman asked:

If you are going to be swimming or to the beach when you are pregnant, the one piece of clothing you will want is the maternity swimsuit. You may be able to wear your pre-pregnancy swimsuit for a while but after some months. It’s just not going to fit right and you may look like some Hollywood movie start wearing a regular bikini because they are in denial that they are pregnant.

Here are six suggestions when buying a maternity swimwear.

1)      Look for something that is extra stretchy especially in the stomach, chest and hips. Your chest size will increase so you will need the extra room. Make sure that you have enough support in the bust though. Prego Maternity Swimwear has suits with a high Lycra content which is what you need. Make sure you hand wash and never through in the dryer high Lycra clothes. It will destroy the Lycra and make the items look like they belong to your husband.

2)      Look for suits with adequate bust support if you are larger up top. Suits with wide shoulders straps and are adjustable are particularly helpful. The higher the swimsuit back or even with an added bra-like clip support in the back will help to support you more in the bust. Even if you are already big up top, your bust size is also likely to increase up a full cup size when you are pregnant. Maternity swimwear with a bit of padding in the cup will smooth out your shape and hide unwanted sights when it gets wet.

3)      If you are a bit hippier, look for a bikini that ties on the side. This works well if you are different sizes on the top and the bottom.

4)      One-piece maternity swimwear is great if you are doing regular swimmer. By far, the most supportive and a great option for the pool, whether it is lap swimming or water exercise, is the Empire Tank by Prego Maternity. Remember that regular halter or tank style swimwear won’t provide the necessary support for active motion.

5)      Remember to get some swimsuit accessories. Cover-ups are a great fashion item and something you will like to throw on when you get out of the pool or return from the beach. After you have your baby, you can even use the cover-up for a great piece of loungewear.  Look for cover-ups by Maternal America or the up and coming ones by Prego Maternity. They often double as great maternity tunics. Also, think about board shorts that can be worn over bikini bottoms.

6)      Buy your maternity bathing suit early in your pregnancy. Make sure you order a little bigger than you need. It doesn’t need to be so big that it falls off or sags in the water. You also need to make sure it has enough bust support so it should be a tight fit up top. You are most likely going to start filling in the extra space as your pregnancy progesses.

Lastly, be sure to try on any swimsuit before you go on holidays. Your body changes rapidly when you are pregnant so the suit that fit you months ago may not fit you in the present.  It an awful way to ruin your vacation when you find out that the clothes you have brought along no longer fit.

Make sure you allow plenty of time before the trip to make the actual purchase. Many brick and mortar stores don’t carry a large selection of maternity swimwear and you may need to order on line. Also, there are few places that stock maternity swimwear (or any swimsuits, for that matter) year round. Ordering online will take at least a week to arrive without special shipping by Fed-Ex. Be sure to check the return policy before buying online. Many online stores do not accept back undergarments and consider bathing suits the same, unlike other pieces of maternity clothes. Also, you may need to exchange to a different size or style and will need to allow for that time too.

Try not to let the idea of wearing a maternity swimsuit prevent you from going to the beach or the pool. Be confident in your new body and find a suit that will flatter your figure and style. In the end, you will definitely enjoy it!

To Bikini or not to Bikini: How to Look Good in Swimwear

Elisha Burberry asked:

Forget the tired advice of Trinny and Susannah or the eccentric ramblings of Gok Wan: you need to look good in a swimsuit this summer and you need to do it fast! And while Kelly Brook’s latest crash diet is supposed to work a treat and Liz Hurley’s new Indian yoga technique is guaranteed to have heads turning, sometimes you need a solution that requires the least effort and the most effect – especially if that beach holiday you booked months ago is now just round the corner. But rest assured that if you make your swimwear purchases carefully and pay heed to a few simple tips, you’ll find the swimming costume that’ll make you out-dazzle the sunshine wherever your destination.

The first area you’ll need to pay attention to is your chest. Women with small busts should opt for swimwear with under-wires, boning or padding, all of which will add an extra bit of oomph to the bust. Moreover, a petite chest will benefit from large floral imprints or bold colours or bold patterns – while this sort of detail is best avoided by the more top-heavy. If you’re keen to minimise your ample bosom, make sure you opt for under-wire or built-in support to provide you with the body structure that you need. Large straps can also do much to help prevent unattractive sagging!

While many women who have large hips can get away with wearing a bikini, sadly women with anything less than flat stomachs usually can’t. Moreover, women with larger waistlines and wide hips are often shy of wearing swimwear at all! However, this shouldn’t be the case. Pick a one-piece swimsuit with an Empire waist and detailing over the chest and eyes will be distracted from the lower regions of your body to the top. What’s more, many specialist swimsuit retailers or department stores sell swimwear with built-in tummy control panels, which contain more spandex and are designed to make you look much slimmer.

Additionally, bulging bellies can be hidden by choosing a piece of women’s swimwear with detailing at the waist. Large floral emblems that start at the waist and stretch towards the chest will keep roaming eyes busy, while a plunging halter neck won’t just draw eyes upwards but will also benefit women with wider shoulders.

If you have a long upper body, it’s best to opt for a tankini, which will break up the line of your body and create a division that will have the effect of shrinking your torso a little. And if you’re the proud owner of a large bottom, but don’t want it to become too prominent when you’re on the beach, find an item of swimwear with large block colours around the top; this will help distract eyes away from the derriere. Most of all make sure you avoid boy shorts, which are not only out of favour this season but also won’t fail to inflate your posterior.

By following these few simple rules, you’ll find out that it’s perfectly possible to find women’s swimwear that will make you stand out on your beach holiday – without having to starve yourself. Even better, these rules can be used every year, whatever swimsuit style happens to be trendy – so you can show the world that you don’t have to bow down to fashion in order to look fabulous in the summer.

Maternity Swimwear – Suggestions for Finding the Best Suit for your Body

Amy Jarman asked:

The one clothing item that no longer works for you once you are pregnant is your pre-pregnancy swimsuit. No matter how stretchy or forgiving your suit may be (or your thought it was), if it is not made for maternity chances are it will not fit you for more than a few weeks into your pregnancy. The belly minimizing styles that most regular one piece suits now cleverly use to suck in your belly is the last style that your doctor would recommend for an expecting mom to wear! Fortunately for you, there are a lot of great maternity swimsuits out there that can comfortably fit your changing body through all stages of your pregnancy and actually flatter your figure!

Prego Maternity Swimwear specializes in swimsuits for expecting moms and offers a wide variety of styles and patterns from serious one piece swimsuits, like the Empire Tank to the modest but cute BabyDoll styles to the sassy tankinis and hipkinis and the bare the belly maternity bikini. Many other upscale maternity designers are also branching into maternity swimwear styles that are hip and fashionable, so there is no reason to shy from the pool or the beach!

The first step to finding your perfect maternity bathing suit is too look for the style that best flatters your shape. Figure out what your priorities are in choosing a suit in terms to fit and support: bust support, more room in the hips or bottom, covering the belly or letting a little peek out, a serious swim or water aerobics suit or a frolic at the beach or lounge poolside suit? Determining your fit goals and your most likely use of your suit, be it serious swimming or wading along the beach, helps narrow down what selections to consider.

If you are buying online, look carefully at the product descriptions or call the customer service number to review any questions you have on the fit of the suit. Some brands run bigger than others and some use more lycra for better stretch. Ideally you would like a maternity swimwear to have about 20% lycra so it can be used throughout your entire pregnancy. Suits that have the best bust support typically fit higher in the back, have wider adjustable straps and less cleavage. Typically maternity halter tops do not offer as much support as tanks unless they fit higher across the bust. Some halter suits have ruching across the front of the busts to offer better fit and support. Also look for suits that have padded cups to offer more structure and support in a bra like fit.

If you are looking mainly for a serious workout maternity swimwear, the one piece tank style suits provide the least resistance in the water and the best overall support for swimming. If the suit fits higher on the back it will function as a more supportive suit for the serious swimmer.

There are many styles to choose from if you are looking for a cute, flattering all purpose maternity swimsuit. If you want to totally hide your belly, go for a style with bottoms that cover the belly and longer skirt for the top. The babydolls come in both tank and halter styles and also cover the hips and bottom.

If you don’t mind showing a little belly as you grow, the maternity hipkinis and maternity tankinis styles come with under the belly bottoms and belly skimming tops. There are many fun patterns out on the market in these styles as well as classic solids that work well for the whole year.

If you need a little extra room in the hips or bottom, look for a style with adjustable side ties in bottoms. This option is available in many of the tankini and hipkini styles as well as the maternity bikinis.

If you are a bikini person pre-pregnancy, there is a good chance you will also want to wear one when you are expecting as well. There is no substitute for a high quality maternity bikini as it is specifically made to fit your changing shape with more stretch, more room in the bust and adjustable ties. There are also many cute bandeau type wraps you can wear with your bikini for pool or beach lounging if you are looking for that option.

Many expecting women find that they really need at least two maternity swimsuits if they frequent the pool or beach or even if they are going to a beach vacation destination. It is easy to burn out on one suit, especially if you are using it several days in a row. Like the maternity or nursing bra rule, you need at least one to wear and one to wash! So, have fun in the sun and find the maternity swimwear that suits you.
