Just make a knot. It won’t untie itself it may just get a little loose after a while.

use a small safety pin

Use a small safety pen to secure it and tie the strings over it covering the safety pen. If it comes undone you have nothing to worry about.

double knot it. also you could use a safety pin and tie the strings over it. so if you knot gets undone then the safety pin would be holding your top together. and every once in a while you could re tie the knot.
